USA E2-VISA

Route to the USA

The E-2 Investor Visa is a nonimmigrant visa type that grants its holder the right to work and live in the U.S., without granting permanent residence on its own. However, it can be a gateway to attain a Green Card and therefore permanent residency. One of the most important aspects of the E-2 Investor Visa is that it is not a general visa that is available to everyone. Only the nationals of certain countries can be eligible, and Turkish nationals are amongst those who can apply.

The E-2 Investor Visa allows a national of a treaty country to be admitted to the U.S. by investing a substantial amount of capital. An Investor must have invested, or be actively in the process of investing this amount of capital in an enterprise in the United States. There is no specific investment threshold, but an investment of around $100,000 is usually given as an example.

The E-2 Investor Visa is granted for a maximum period of 2 years and can be extended by parts of 2 years indefinitely. There is no limit to the number of extensions an E-2 Investor Visa holder can receive. Throughout this time, an Investor can only work in the activity in which he or she was approved.

The E-2 Investor Visa can also benefit the family, spouse, and certain employees of the Investor. Employees who have the same nationality with their employers and are undertaking executive or supervisory duties or duty which requires their special qualification can be eligible for an E-2 Visa. Investors and their employees can be also accompanied by their spouses and unmarried children who are under the age of 21. These people will generally be granted the same period of stay as the Investor.

The applicant is not required to go to the U.S. to apply for the E-2 Investor Visa. Applications are made through U.S. Consulates and Embassies. The application must be made after the Investor has acquired Turkish citizenship.
